Xbox:Qwix
Qwix is an Xbox ISO creator and remote game backup manager. You can create XISO format ISO files to burn to DVDs for use with your Xbox, batch upload a ton of ISO files to your Xbox which are automatically converted to folder format to be playable by your Xbox, or manage your Xbox games from your PC.
Initial Setup
Upon launching Qwix the first time, you will need to point it to your Xbox. Select the "Edit" button in the top right and enter the following:
- Description: Enter any name desired for this connection, such as "My Xbox".
- Xbox IP: Enter the IP of your Xbox found on the dashboard or network settings. It is best to set a static IP for your Xbox or you may have to change this value in the future to match a new IP.
- Login: Enter "xbox", unless you specified otherwise on your Xbox.
- Password: Enter "xbox", unless you specified otherwise on your Xbox.
- Use Passive FTP: It is recommended to keep it unchecked.
- Folders: Remove any folder there, and select Add Folder to define a path to where your games are stored on your Xbox. For example "G:\GAMES\\".
With your Xbox on, select "Test Connection" to verify that the information is correct. Select OK to save your settings.
Uploading Games
- Select the "Load ISO" option in the left side of the window. Select "Scan Folders" in the top middle of the window. Choose the folder containing the games that you want to upload and select "Scan". Games in ISO format inside of that folder will be displayed in the bottom half of the window. Press "Select All" or choose the desired ones, and select OK.
- The selected games will be displayed in the main window. From here you can choose each one and click the option to "Rename XBE" if you want to change the display title on your Xbox or change the path in which the game is uploaded to. When you are finished, select "FTP Upload All" and Qwix will automatically convert and upload all of the games.
Managing Games
Select the "Manage Titles on Xbox Drive" in the left side of the window and select "Scan Titles". A list of games on your Xbox hard drive will be displayed, and you can change the XBE Titles, create ISOs from them, or obtain the MD5 hash of any game.
Creating ISOs
Select the "Create ISO" in the left side of the window. From here you can choose a source and make an ISO from it. Alternatively, you can use the game manager mentioned in the section above to create ISOs from the Xbox hard drive. Selecting the option "Automatically cross-link identical files" will attempt to reduce the ISO size by removing duplicate files inside of the game and creating proper links so that the game is perfectly functional.
Troubleshooting
If your upload seems to hang, and the current speed is zero or the average speed is approaching zero, check the hard drive space on your computer. If it is within 8GB of being full, it may be hanging due to there not being enough room for it to convert the ISO to folder format. Take note of what game it hung on, abort the upload, clear some space on your hard drive, select the game it hung on and all following it, and try again.
