Created by Ralph Baer — the pioneering "Father of Video Games" — the console bridged the worlds of table-top board games by relying on the use of dice, paper money, and physical overlays that stuck to the screen. It also sported the first light gun peripheral and the game ''Table Tennis'' which was the inspiration for ''Pong''.
 
The console also spawned the Magnavox Odyssey and Philips Odyssey series of consoles, indicated with a number such as "Magnavox Odyssey 100".
