The Pioneer/NEC LaserActive, released in 1993, is an expensive LaserDisc, LD-G, and CDDA player offering poor value for its money. However, if the owner is willing to spend further to purchase "PAC" expansion cards, more features and formats can be added - most famously making it compatible with contemporary Sega and NEC 16-bit consoles and beyond.
