The Generation 1 Power Supply
This power supply is not known to be a tremendous source of pain to maintain.
However, it is sideways just like the Gen 2/3/4 cards.
Capacitor | Microfarad | Voltage |
---|---|---|
C6 | 680uF | 180v |
C52 | 560uF | 25v |
C57 | 2200uF | 16v |
C60 | 220uF | 50v |
C61 | 330uF | 16v |
C70 | 22uF | 25v |
C74 | 22uF | 25v |

The Generation 2/3/4 Power Supply
Very well known and the pain these cause is also well known. This PSU card is sideways like the Gen1 card.
As a result of this, the acid leaks sideways down the card and destroys a lot of resistors, the relay, etc. It is uncommon to clean, recap, and then the PSU card dies months later.
Hearing a whining sound when the computer is plugged in and not turned on is an indicator that the capacitor near the black relay has leaked badly.
You can get a capacitor kit for this power supply at console5.
