You can play game backups by either using a flashcard or by using TWiLight Menu++.
Flash Cards
Format your SD card to FAT32 with a cluster size of 32kb or 64kb if the card is larger than 32GB. Place your backups into a new folder, along with the appropriate firmware, on the root of your SD card. Insert the flashcard into your DS, launch it from the menu, and select a game.
TWiLight Menu++
Follow the installation guide for the method you wish to install TWiLight Menu on. Place your backups into the "roms/nds" sub-directory on your SD card. Load up the TWiLight Menu using your preferred method and select a game.
