The Dreamcast is region locked with the four regions being North America, Europe, Japan, and Asia (which includes Australia). Games from one region cannot be used on an other-region console. However, you can boot other-region games via multiple methods.
Booting Other-Region Games
You can boot other-region games through various means such as:
- Using a boot disc, such as Utopia, then inserting the official disc.
- Burning a MIL-CD copy of the game.
- Loading the game through an ODE, such as Dreamcast:GDEMU, Dreamcast:USB-GDROM, or a Saturn:MODE.
- Replace the BIOS with a region-free one.
- Load games through DreamShell.
Fixing Graphics Issues with Other-Region Games
If you successfully boot other-region games, you may notice graphical issues such as the screen being off-center or being displayed in black and white. You will need to perform the Dreamcast:Region Frequency Mod to fix this.
