Items you will need
- Make sure you have followed this guide Custom Firmware (CFW) Installation
- Have the latest Checkpoint installed
- The 3DS or DS Cartridge you want to dump the Save from
Steps to Dumping a 3DS or DS Save
- Power on your 3DS
- Go to Checkpoint and launch it
- Wait for any installed titles to load
- Find the cartridge and press "A"
- Click Backup or click "Left Trigger"
- It will pop up with "Backup selected save?"
- Click Yes
- Use the Default Save title or Make your own title
- Click OK
- Click OK on the "Progress correctly saved to disk" message.
- Turn off the 3DS
- Remove the SD Card and insert it into a PC
- Navigate to /3ds/Checkpoint/saves on the SD Card
- Find your game in the folder
- If you have backed up multiple saves they will call be in there from different dates or will have different names.
- Copy or Move the Save to somewhere on your PC
- Now you have a backup of your save and can use it on an Emulator or restore it to another cartridge
Steps to Restoring a 3DS or DS Save
- Power on your 3DS
- Go to Checkpoint and launch it
- Wait for any installed titles to load
- Find the cartridge and press "A"
- Choose the Save you want to Restore
- Click Restore or click "Right Trigger"
- It will pop up with "Restore selected save?"
- Click Yes
- It will Pop up with the "Title" has been restored successfully
- Click OK
- The Save has now been Restored
