Config Magic is an EEPROM reader/editor tool that can be used to modify your EEPROM and hard drive. With it, you can look at or flash a new EEPROM, build a new one using a CFG file, unlock/lock the hard drive, and create system backups.

By default, if you lock a drive, it will lock it with the password "TEAMASSEMBLY"

Backing up your EEPROM

Press Start to enter the application, then Start again to open the main menu. Select "Create Backup Files". This will create an EEPROM backup on the E: drive. Most actions in ConfigMagic will make a backup of the EEPROM on the root of the E: drive.

Changing Hard Drive Key

You can change the hard drive key to a memorable value (such as all zeroes) in case you want to move your hard drive to another system or get into your current hard drive with your PC. To do this, from the main menu:

  1. (Softmods only) Select "Unlock HDD".
  2. Select "On-the-Fly Edit EEPROM".
  3. Scrolls down and select "Unique HDD Key" and then enter your desired key, and press OK.
  4. Press Start, then select "Update XBOX EEPROM" to save changes. It will backup your EEPROM to your hard drive to the root of the E: drive before saving the changes to your console.
  5. (Softmods only) Select "Load EEPROM" and then "Lock HDD" button.
