It should be important to note Marty has a 386SX CPU, 2MB RAM, the brittle CD drive and brittle floppy disc drive. Knowing this you will be limited to games that only run with those specifications. Some games require two floppy drives to be used at the same time. Unless impractically modified, a stock Marty can't run these types of games. If you're uncertain if a game can run on Marty, please check redump database in the comments of a game. If the title requires more than the CPU or RAM of Marty, it will be in the comments.

Marty has slots to hook up a keyboard, mouse and gamepad. There is "pad to mouse" emulation in the BIOS and a lot of the time where a mouse is required a gamepad can be used.

There were special kits required to use the Car Marty outside of the car such as the unobtanium video cable and a seperate power supply.  In the Car, the Car Marty had an LCD panel.

A special borderline unobtanium cable is required to use the Car Marty with a TV. Floppy drive must also be used externally from the system as it isn't integrated. Extremely difficult to find as well.

Identical to the MVP-1, except it’s fixed some sort of problem with the disk drive. It’s also extremely rare.

There are two Marty models, and two revisions within one of these models.

Models + Revisions

Models are arranged chronologically. Revisions are underneath their respective model.

“FM Towns Marty” (1993-1995)

Marty comes in two primary colors which is the light grey and dark grey + yellow buttons. Generally, the light grey model is prone to yellowing like other aged plastics. There is also the holy grail level of rarity Marty called the TC Marty with a printer port attachment. The Model 1 and Model 2 are the most common models available. There is zero advantage to owning a TC Marty or Car Marty over the normal Model 1 or Model 2.

Marty has slots to hook up a keyboard, mouse, and gamepad. There is "pad to mouse" emulation in the BIOS and a lot of the time where a mouse is required a gamepad can be used.

The disc drive is prone to total failure and the floppy drive is also prone to total failure. Please visit the repair article section for more information.

“FM Towns Car Marty” (1994-1995)

A version of the Marty was meant to be run within an automobile. Quite innovative for being the first in-vehicle multimedia player, complete with a GPS function.
