Normally, Developer Mode on the Xbox One has limited privileges. However, with certain exploits, an admin account can be added to the console. This allows for a few extra things, like more access to the partitions on the internal HDD with SSH and SFTP.
All instructions have been sourced from the Xbox One Research Wiki.
Prerequisites
- Any model or revision of an Xbox One or Xbox Series console with access to Developer Mode
- A computer or virtual machine running Windows connected to the same network as the console
Instructions
- Make sure the console is in Developer Mode.
- Download the latest build of Artifice and extract it to a folder on the computer's desktop. It will not work if it is stored somewhere that isn't the desktop.
- Run the Artifice executable and add the console's IP address to the app.
- If the console has authentication enabled for remote acces, Artifice will ask you for a username and password. Make sure to input the correct credentials.
- Click
Start
, and let the app perform the exploit. It will take a minute. - Once done, the console will have an admin account you can SSH into. The default username and password of the account are both
admin
