The Amiga family of personal computers were built by Commodore in the mid-1980s, starting with the Amiga 1000 in 1985 and ending in 1996. The Amiga computers run AmigaOS, an operating system designed specifically for the Motorola 68000 processor. A standalone game console that is essentially an Amiga 1200 with an added CD-ROM drive, no I/O ports, and a modified Advanced Graphics Architecture chipset for improved graphical performance was released in 1993.
