"Disc drive doesn't spin at all

There is a leaf blade switch that is depressed when the lid is closed. When the lid is closed, Marty should spin the CD starting to seek. If the lid is closed and Marty doesn't spin at all it can be assumed the leaf blade switch is broken.

With ODE it won't matter if the lid switch is broken or working.

Generally, the fix is to remove the broken switch and permanently wire the lid switch together. Also, try to cover it in tape. That way Marty always thinks the drive is closed.

There are zero known games or software for Marty that require a CD swap.

"Disc drive doesn't work"

Could be damaged traces. Here are two photos of an example of this. Trace repair would be required.

"Doesn't read CD-R or pressed/authentic discs. Spins but doesn't load"

The kiss of death. Recapping the disc drive won't help much. Recommend ODE replacement.
