Description
The BKM-15R controller, is a controller for Sony's BVM-A series of professional monitors, and later LCD monitors. In contrast to the other "common" BVM controller, the BKM-10R, the BKM-15R uses LAN connection to control the monitor(s). The controller allegedly comes in different versions in regards to how its powered, some have both direct AC input and a 4-pin DC connector, while others only have the 4-pin connector. If the 4-pin connector is used, Sonys original part number for this is the SMF-700 cable, which includes both the power plug and a network/RJ45 cable. The 4-pin connector is a Hirose HR10A-7P-4X, where the X depends if its the receptacle or the plug, so if you want to make a custom cable, the mating plug is the Hirose HR10A-7P-4P.
Replacements
The BKM-15R is becoming somewhat rare, and therefore becoming exceedingly expensive. Martin Hejnfelt has DIY projects allowing to control BVM-A monitors without one here, here and here.
