4MB Memory Card for Sony Playstation. The page below is a copy of the original user guide as bundled with these cards. As the user guide often gets lost, this page could be useful for anyone who comes across this card and cannot fathom how to change pages.
As this card doesn't feature compression, save games stored on it are unlikely to be corrupted, even after several decades.
Features
- The 4MB Memory Card is the equivalent of 4x 1MB Memory Cards in one. This gives you up to 60 games saves (if 1 game save =1 save slot).
- NO compression used, each page is true 1 x 4MB memory card
Memory Pages
The 4MB is split into 4x 1 MB pages, each with 15 save game slots.
Digital Display
The 4MB Memory Card features an LED digital display which shows the current active save page. The display will also flash when whilst changing pages. The right digit displays the current page. The left LED will flash when you switch to another page.
Index Card and Labels
For ease of identifying the position of your saves (e.g. Game Name, Page Number), please use the Index Card and Labels provided (the original card as sold in the 1990s included these)
Selecting Pages
You can switch between the 4 pages using any standard Playstation™ controller.
1. Press and hold the L1, R1 and START buttons
2. Release the L1 and R1 buttons, keeping the START button depressed
3. With the START button still depressed, use the UP/DOWN buttons on the D-Pad to select the page (this will show as 1-4 on the digital display as you move the d-pad up and down)
4. When the desired page is reached, release the START button
Important Notes
You should never insert or remove your 4MB Memory Card when;
- - You are saving a game
- - You are loading a game
- - The console is switched on (really? There should be no issue hot swapping any memory card)
You should not attempt to change pages whilst the 4MB Memory Card is loading or saving a game.
