TEOS is an alternate operating system for the Turbo EverDrive V2.5 which offers various new features and bug fixes.
Features
- Allows the TurboGrafx or PC Engine to use the Turbo EverDrive V2.X as a Super System Card. This avoids potentially damaging memory bus-fighting that occurs when booting the Super System Card software on the original Turbo EverDrive OS.
- Adds the ability to "Backup RAM" contents to and from the Turbo EverDrive's SD card.
- Adds the ability to copy the contents of a "Memory Base 128" addon to and from the Turbo EverDrive's SD card.
- Adds the ability to use the Japanese "Tennokoe Bank" HuCARD utility.
- Different looking main menu with a higher resolution font.
- Various game-specific fixes listed on the project's GitHub.
Setup
- Format a 32GB or smaller micro SD card as FAT32.
- Download and extract the latest release's zip from the GitHub releases page.
- Copy all of the extracted contents to the root of the SD card. If you are updating TEOS, do not overwrite any files or you may lose saves.
- At this point, TEOS will be listed in the Turbo EverDrive menu and can be run from there. However, if you'd like to completely replace the EverDrive OS with TEOS, rename
TEOS.PCE
toOS.PCE
and move it into theTBED
folder on your SD card. - If you are using a Turbo GT or Turbo Express, use the TEOS-GT.PCE file instead, as it will make text more readable on the LCD screen.
- At this point, TEOS will be listed in the Turbo EverDrive menu and can be run from there. However, if you'd like to completely replace the EverDrive OS with TEOS, rename
- Copy any desired games to the root of the SD card. Note that folders are supported, so you can place games in separate folders such as
Games
,Translations
, andHomebrew
. - Safely eject the SD card and insert it into the Turbo EverDrive.
- On the Turbo EverDrive cartridge itself, look for a physical switch. Slide it to the "PCE" position if your system is a PC Engine or slide it to the "TG-16" position if it's a TurboGrafx-16.
- Insert the Turbo EverDrive into your console and turn it on. It should boot to a white screen followed by the TEOS menu.
Controls
- I: Select highlighted item.
- II: Go back to previous menu.
- Run: Start previously selected game.
- Select: Open Tennokoe backup utility. Press again to show help and system information page. Press again to return to main menu.
- Reset: There is a physical button on the cartridge itself that will take you back to the EverDrive menu.
