Required Items

  • Nintendo DS, DSi, Or 3DS
  • For Nintendo DS, you will need a slot 2 GBA flashcart that's compatible with a slot 1 flashcart.

Note that the 2DS is in the 3DS family of systems, so the same instructions will apply.

Nintendo DS section

At the time of writing, I (DOGE 2) do not currently own a slot 2 flashcart, so this portion will be filled in at a later time.

Nintendo DSi section

  1. Download and place the latest version GodMode9i (either .dsi or .nds) and place it in /roms/nds/
  1. Launch GodMode9i and ensure the game card you would like to dump is inserted in the console
  1. Select the "NDS GAMECARD" option in GodMode9i, and choose whether you would like the trimmed dump (smaller, trims off garbage data), or the full dump (entire ROM is dumped)
  1. Once the dump is finished, it should be in /gm9i/out/

Nintendo 3DS section

  1. Download and place the GodMode9.firm file from the downloaded archive to the /luma/payloads/ folder on your SD Card, then copy the gm9 folder from the archive and place it on the root of your SD card
  1. Ensure your 3DS is completely powered off, then press and hold START while powering on your device. This will do two things, depending on how many .firm files you have 2a. If you boot straight into GodMode9, continue following the guide 2b. If you boot to the Luma 3DS chainloader, use the D-Pad to move the selection to GodeMode9 and press A to boot the payload. After that, continue following the guide.
  1. Navigate to [C:] GAMECART and enter it
  1. Press A on the .nds file (or .trim.nds) and select "Copy to 0:/gm9/out/"
  1. Once the dump is finished, it should be in /gm9/out/
