AV:240p Test Suite Lag Test
There are two ways to test input lag test using the 240p Test Suite.
Lag Test
This test is an accurate way to determine how much input lag a display has relative to another display. If you have a display that you know to have zero input lag (such as a SD 4:3 CRT TV), then you can use this to determine whether another display has any input lag.
- Use some device to split a signal and send one to your baseline "known input lag" display, and the other to the display you want to test.
- Load 240p Test Suite and launch the "Lag Test".
- Take a picture (or video) of the two displays showing the lag test. If there is any input lag on the display you are testing, it will show a different number than what is displayed on the baseline display. Subtract the test display's number under "frames" from the baseline display's, and that is the number of additional frames of lag is has over the baseline display.
A demonstration of this method by My Life in Gaming is found below.
Manual Lag Test
This method is a loose approximation of input lag. If you select "Manual Lag Test" in the menus, you are presented with a moving target. When it aligns with the center target, you press the A button. Over a series of these tests, it will average your reactions and display its estimated lag time. This is a loose approximation (heavy lag or no lag) as it relies on human input.
