Jump to search
In the event that the power fuse on your 2DS or 3DS fails, you will need to replace it.
Items Needed
- Replacement power fuse
- Soldering iron
- Desoldering wick or pump
- Precision screwdriver set
- Anti-static wrist strap (optional but recommended)
Directions (all models)
- Power off the system and disassemble the device using a precision screwdriver set. Keep track of screws and components by organizing them in a way that makes reassembly easier.
- Locate the power fuse. The fuse is a small rectangular component located near the power connector on the motherboard.
- Desolder the old fuse. Use the soldering iron to heat the solder joints of the old power fuse. You can either add enough solder to heat both sides at once or use desoldering wick or a pump to remove excess solder from the fuse's pads. Gently lift the old fuse away from the motherboard.
- Place the new fuse in the same position on the motherboard and apply a small amount of solder to the pads, securing the new fuse in place. Be precise to avoid excessive heat, which could damage nearby components.
- Reassemble the 3DS, following the reverse order of disassembly. Ensure all components are correctly seated, and screws are tightened securely.
- Insert the battery and power on the 3DS. Confirm that the device powers up without issues and check for any unusual behavior.
