N64:N64HDMI

The HISPEEDIDO N64HDMI video processor is an internal add-on to all retail Nintendo 64 game consoles.

It is currently one of the cheaper options available on AliExpress, and follows the same soldering process as many of the existing modification processes.

From the website, the kit states:

• This N64-HDMI Mod kit is compatible with all N64 models/regions, with the exception of 'Pikachu' models.
• This N64-HDMI kit is a digital to digital HDMI output upgraded for the Nintendo 64.
• 720P HDMI-Compatible Output.
• Built-in OSD Menu.
• Built in 3 TV Aspect Ratio.
• 8 color modes.

On-Screen Display

To activate the basic OSD, hold START + A + B for 1 second.

NOTE: For some reason, this doesn't work with 3rd party controllers.

There are three options available to change:

• Video mode (Standard, Dynamic, Vivid)
• Colour mode (Various colour palette shifts)
• Aspect Ratio (Direct input, Upscaled, upscaled-zoom)
• Factory reset (sets back to Standard, Colour 1, Upscaled)

Installation instructions

Instructions can be found on the main website, but below is a short guide with additional information for a smoother installation process:

· Bend the Flex slightly below the resistor arrays, and slightly after. It should comfortably sit over the top of the DENC-NUS chip Align the flex on the RCP to pin 6. Tape it down with the thinnest Kapton tape (5 or 10mm) Solder the flex cable to the pins Solder the wire points. The Controller flex extension can be trimmed The “T” QSP is unused. RST seems to be unused Solder the 5V flex to the transistor by looping it over. If you find that there are issues, the 5V flex may have become damaged. In that case, wire manually. Solder the following points, bending the wires neatly: Pin 2 – RC Pin 16 – CON Pin 27 – RST Put Kapton tape over the solder points on the flex. Tape the flex on the edge of the board, watching that it doesn't sit over any screw/mount holes. No-cut Version The UltraHDMI NOCUT 3d print will work fine, but there is a remixed version of the base on Thingiverse by user VariablePwn that suits the HISPEEDIDO kit more effectively. You will still be required to download the shroud from the LaserBear (collingall) Thingiverse page.
