36-inch 4:3 HD CRT released by Sony in 2004. This was the only 4:3 TV released by Sony in North America to use their SFP (Super Fine Pitch) Trinitron tube, which delivers greatly improved picture detail. It also has a digital ATSC tuner for receiving modern television broadcasts.
By default, this TV introduces input lag at all input resolutions. However, by setting "HDPT" to 0 in the service menu, 1080i and 540p signals are internally switched to bypass the digital scaling circuitry. This results in zero input lag for 1080i and 540p signals only.
Sony introduced a revised version of the DA-4 chassis in mid 2005, and issued a new service manual for the KV-30XS955 and KD-34XS955 with a specified serial number range to differentiate from the original version. However, the KD-36XS955 is not included in this revised service manual. Production of the 36" model did continue through at least late 2005, with its serial number format unchanged. Therefore, it appears that the 36" model never adopted the revised DA-4 chassis like the 30" and 34" did. This means all KD-36XS955 are likely capable of HDPT, however further testing/inspection is needed to confirm this for units built after May 2005.
