Required Items

Dumping a 3DS or DS Save

  1. Power on your 3DS and launch Checkpoint.
  2. Wait for any installed titles to load. Find the cartridge and press "A".
  3. Click Backup or click "Left Trigger".
  4. It will pop up with "Backup selected save?". Click Yes.
  5. Use the Default Save title or Make your own title.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click OK on the "Progress correctly saved to disk" message.
  8. Turn off the 3DS.
  9. Remove the SD Card, and insert it into a PC.
  10. Navigate to /3ds/Checkpoint/saves on the SD Card.
  11. Find your game in the folder. If you have backed up multiple saves they will call be in there from different dates or will have different names.
  12. Copy or Move the Save to somewhere on your PC.

Now you have a backup of your save and can use it on an Emulator or restore it to another cartridge.

Restoring a 3DS or DS Save

  1. Power on your 3DS and launch Checkpoint.
  2. Wait for any installed titles to load.
  3. Find the cartridge and press "A".
  4. Choose the Save you want to Restore.
  5. Click Restore or click "Right Trigger".
  6. It will pop up with "Restore selected save?".
  7. Click Yes.
  8. It will Pop up with the "Title" has been restored successfully.
  9. Click OK.

The Save has now been restored.
