The following is a list of error codes you may encounter on your Nintendo 64 Disk Drive. This list was compiled from multiple sources.[1][2][3]

Error Code Meaning
01 General error, may be disk or disk drive. Reseat ribbon cables, check that drive is greased enough, disk may be bad or drive head may need cleaning.
02 Eject button may have been pushed in half way during access.
03 General disk drive error.
04 General disk error.
05 Clock error. Set date and time or replace battery.
11 General disk error.
21-25 General error, may be disk or disk drive.
31-35 General error, may be disk drive or Nintendo 64.
41 Error in connection between N64DD and Nintendo 64. Clean 50-pin connector on top of disk drive or on bottom of Nintendo 64.
42 Disk not detected. Insert disk or check if the eject button is partially depressed.
43 General disk drive error.
44 Expansion Pak not inserted.
47 Wrong disk has been inserted. Insert disk shown on TV screen.
48 Clock malfunction. Set the date and time. May require battery replacement if repeatedly occurring.
49 Disk may have been removed during access or eject button may have been pushed in half way.
50 General disk drive error. Eject button may have been pushed in half way.
51 Disk may have been removed during access.
