Playstation controller port fuses

On the "fat" models, the allocations are as follows: The controller / memory card ports of the PlayStation carry two power supplies - one is nominally 3.3V and the other is nominally 8V. Both ports share the same fuses. The physical positions of the fuses change between models, but their reference designations are consistent: PS602 is an 800mA fuse for the controller 8V motor power. PS605 is a 600mA fuse for the controller 3.3V logic supply.

These fuses are KOA "Chip Circuit Protectors" - PS602 is CCP2E20 and PS605 is CCP2E15.

Although not associated with the controller ports, for reference the other fuses are:

  • PS601 800mA (CCP2E20) - 8V supply for BTL driver (spindle and sled motors + focus and tracking actuators).
  • PS602 (described above)
  • PS603 800mA (CCP2E20) - 8V supply to 5V regulator running video + audio DACs
  • PS604 2A (CCP2E50) - 3.3V supply to main logic
  • PS605 (described above)

The redesigned PSone uses slightly different fuse numbers and in some cases they vary with the PCB revision.
