Remote Play is a standard PS3 feature that allows you to play PSX/PS2/PS3 games using a PSP or PS Vita. With custom firmware on your PS3, you can force any game to use Remote Play; even if it's not officially supported. It is recommended to use the Wireless LAN option for Remote Play to avoid connecting to PSN with your custom firmware console. This process can also be done using an ODE. PS2 Classic games are not supported.

A compatibility list can be found on the PS Devwiki. If you find a game that does or doesn't work, please add it there.

Forcing Remote Play

  1. Download PARAM SFO Editor. It is also bundled with AldosTools.
  2. Use an FTP session to navigate to /dev_hdd0/GAMES/<desired game>/PS3_GAME, and transfer PARAM.SFO to your PC. If your game is an ISO, copy the ISO to your PC and extract it to be in folder layout.
  3. Make a copy of the PARAM.SFO to keep as a backup.
  4. Run PARAM SFO Editor and drag and drop your PARAM.SFO into the main window.
  5. Check the box next to "PSP Remote Play". Underneath that checkbox, there are three different compression options; if the game does not work with one, try this process again using a different option.
  6. Save the file, and upload it back on to your console. You will need to launch the game and press the PS button and exit to force the system to recognize the new PARAM.SFO. If your game was originally an ISO, you will need to rebuild the ISO with GenPS3ISO (also bundled with AldosTools). If your game is a PSN game, you will need to rebuild the database after transferring the modified PARAM.SFO file to your console.
  7. Connect to your PSP/Vita with remote play as you normally would. The process for it can be found here. If the game is displaying improperly after running it, the connection errors out, or the console freezes; start the process over and choose a different compression option. If none of the compression options work, your game most likely does not work with Remote Play, even when forced.
    • If you are receiving error 80431064 on your PSP; restart Remote Play on your PSP
