3DS:Applying ROM Patches

Circumventing DRM mechanisms and/or creating backup copies of games and media for personal use is a right granted only in some countries. Required Items

• Make sure you have Custom Firmware (CFW) installed.
• Have the latest FBI installed.
• You can find ROM patches here.

Enabling Game Patching in Luma3DS

1. Hold (Select) and power on your 3DS. Luma3DS configuration menu will launch.
2. Navigate to Enable game patching and press (A) to select it.
3. Press (Start) to save and reboot to the Home Menu.

ROM Patching using LayeredFS

1. Make sure that you have selected Enable game patching in Luma3DS!
2. Download and extract the ROM patches. The patches are the folder(s) named with a string of numbers and/or letters, example: 0004000000198E00.
3. Create a folder called titles inside the luma folder if there is none.
4. Copy the extracted ROM patch folder(s) into luma/titles on the SD card.
5. Insert the SD card into the 3DS and power on your 3DS.
6. Launch the title.

ROM Patching using ".plg" Plugins

.plg plugins require Luma3DS_3GX and BootNTR in order to work!

1. Download the boot.firm file from Luma3DS_3GX.
2. Go to BootNTR and pick up the relevant .cia.
3. Create a folder called cias on the root of the SD card if there is none.
4. Copy the .cia file into cias on the SD card.
5. Insert the SD card into the 3DS and power on your 3DS.
6. Launch FBI.
7. Navigate to SD and press (A).
8. Navigate to cias and press (A).
9. Navigate to BootNTRSelector.cia.
10. Press (A) to select.
11. Navigate to and select Install and delete CIA.
12. Press (A) to confirm.
13. After installation has finished, press any button to continue.
14. Exit FBI.
15. Unwrap the new package on your Home Menu.
16. Open NTR CFW.

If prompted on the bottom screen, press Use default and then Save settings.

1. Press 3.6 on the bottom of the screen. The program should save and exit back to Home Menu.
2. Power off the 3DS.
3. Create a new folder called plugins in the root of the SD card if there is none and open it.

If the plugin does not include a preexisting folder!

1. Create a new folder called the same as the TitleID of the title you are patching. A list of TitleID's can be found here.
2. Open the created folder.
3. Copy over the .plg patch file.

If the plugin does include a preexisting folder!

1. Copy over the preexisting folder that is called the TitleID of the title you are patching. A list of TitleID's can be found here.
2. Insert the SD card into the 3DS and power it on.
3. Launch NTR CFW and wait until you are returned to the Home Menu.
4. Press (X) and (Y) to check if NTR CFW is running. By doing so it should open the NTR menu.
5. Launch the title. The screen should flash green during the Nintendo 3DS splash screen.

You will need to launch NTR CFW everytime you want to access the .plg plugin!

ROM Patching using ".3gx" Plugins

1. Download the boot.firm file from Luma3DS_3GX.
2. Copy the boot.firm file to the root of the SD card. Overwrite if there already exists one.
3. Download the .3gx plugin file for the title you want to patch.
4. Open the luma folder on the SD card. Create a new folder called plugins and open it.

If the plugin does not include a preexisting folder!

1. Create a new folder called the same as the TitleID of the title you are patching. A list of TitleID's can be found here.
2. Open the created folder.
3. Copy over the .3gx patch file.

If the plugin does include a preexisting folder!

1. Copy over the preexisting folder that is called the TitleID of the title you are patching. A list of TitleID's can be found here.
2. Insert the SD card into the 3DS.
3. Power on the 3DS.

If you boot into the Luma3DS configuration menu.

1. Navigate to Show NAND or user string in System Settings.
2. Press (A) to select it.
3. Press (Start) to reboot to the Home Menu.
4. Hold (L) + (DPad Down) and press (Select) to open Rosalina menu.
5. Navigate to Plugin loader and press (A) to enable it.
6. Press (B) to save and exit.
7. Open the title. The screen should flash blue during the Nintendo 3DS splash screen.

Updating ROMS or applying DLC's

1. Download the update and/or DLC .cia file.

Make sure the .cia file(s) is/are for the same region as your installed title!

1. Create a folder called cias on the root of the SD card if there is none.
2. Copy the .cia file(s) into cias on the SD card.
3. Insert the SD card into the 3DS and power on your 3DS.
4. Launch FBI.
5. Navigate to SD and press (A).
6. Navigate to cias and press (A).
7. Select the .cia update file first if there is one.
8. Press (A) to select.
9. Select Install and delete CIA.
10. Press (A) to confirm.
11. Select the .cia DLC file if there is one.
12. Press (A) to select.
13. Select Install and delete CIA.
14. Press (A) to confirm.
15. Exit FBI and launch the title.
