 | Using Gateway and its clones is very dangerous. Older versions of the Gateway launcher make permanent changes to your NAND, which may potentially brick your 3DS. We strongly recommend that you do not use it! |

List of Gateway clones
Because of the Gateway's popularity, other manufacturers have dabbled in manufacturing clones to capitalize on the 3DS flashcard market. As a result, Gateway released v2.0b2 of their launcher, which included controversial anti-tampering measures designed to be very malicious. If the checksum of the launcher file was tampered with, or if a clone Gateway cart was inserted, then the console's eMMC is locked with a password; however, due to a coding error, this also occurs if you're a legitimate Gateway user or have a corrupted SD card.

Installation
DS Profile Exploit (MSET)
- Note: This method only works if you have a console with System Version 4.x, you can check this by opening the "System Settings" applet on the HOME Menu.
- Download the latest Gateway 3DS software and extract the archive.
- If you have the blue card that came with the Gateway package, drag-and-drop all of the files from inside the
Blue Card
directory onto the root of the microSD card for the DS-mode flashcard.
- Any other DS-mode compatible flashcard that works with the 3DS, copy the
GW_INSTALLER.NDS
or similar file from inside of the Blue Card
directory onto the root.
- Copy
Launcher.dat
onto the root of your console's SD card.
- Insert the blue card or DS-mode compatible flashcard into your 3DS, and select its icon from the HOME Menu.
- Navigate to
GW_INSTALLER.NDS
and launch it.
- Press the A button to continue when prompted, then select your model of 3DS and region.
- If the progress counter freezes at any stage, reboot the console and perform steps 4-6 again.
- Press A to exit once the process has completed and reboot your console.
- Launch the System Settings application.
- Navigate to Other Settings → Profile → Nintendo DS Profile. With any luck, the exploit should start.
- If the console goes into the Nintendo DS Profile section as normal, the exploit has failed. Either you are on an in-compatible System Version or that the exploit was installed incorrectly.
