FM Towns:Playing Game Backups
Playing Backup CD
FM Towns didn't have copy protection on their CDs at all minus a few games such as Zack McCracken that merely checked for the presence of a CD in the drive tray.
This was done to prevent people from dragging files to HDD and then playing the games from the HDD and reselling their game.
Overall with good quality CD-R such as CMC PRO the FM Towns computer can run burned CDs.
Playing Backup Floppy Disks
Some floppy games during this era had copy protection schemes. For example all Falcom titles had copy protection.
Almost all games that are paired with a user disk or boot disk except Harukanaru Augusta's floppy disk can be played as they didn't have copy protection
However floppy-only games such as Dinosaur, Columns, or Cameltry have copy protection.
One way around this is to use disks in D77 image format.
Another way around this is to use a floppy emulator with HXC firmware and convert your floppy disk image into HFE V3 format. This can run copy protected disks.
