SNES:2CHIP Mods
Edge Enhancer
The Edge Enhancer is a mod created by Voultar that reduces noise and improves color fidelity, but also recovers video content, eliminating the blurred video that the original 2CHIP chipset is most notorious for. The improvements to video are not only beneficial to RGB, but S-Video and Composite Video, too! The Edge-Enhancer yields visuals that are comparable to the sought after "1CHIP" SNES, greatly leveling the playing field and making the more affordable "2CHIP" SNES hardware much more attractive. The dreaded SNES "vertical bar" is also eradicated and is no longer a visual disturbance when outputting RGB video. The SNES Edge-Enhancer is a video recovery appliance that’s designed only for 2CHIP SNES systems, and only offered as an installation service from Voultar as it requires console-specific tuning and a recap.
2CHIP Filter Mod
By default, the 2CHIP SNES produces a lower quality video signal than the 1CHIP models. There is a mod by Japanese modder Torapu, and made easier by Buttersoft, that dramatically improves the video output quality on 2CHIPs. Check out the following links to learn more.
