Vita:Factory Resetting

If you want to sell a console and remove any of your previous data or clear a previously modded console's files to start fresh, you can follow one of the methods on this page on how to do so.

Method 1: Settings Application

1. Open the settings application.
2. Scroll down until you see the Format section, and then select Restore this system
3. Select Restore
4. When prompted, select Yes to confirm three times.
5. Select Format and select Yes
6. Once formatted, click OK to reboot.
7. Complete the first time setup and update the firmware. If you want to install CFW on the console, you can continue to this page.

Method 2: Safe Mode

1. If the system is currently on, hold the power button for about three seconds to trigger the shutdown screen, and select Power Off
2. Press and hold + + HOME (PlayStation Button). After a few seconds, the system will now be in Safe Mode.
3. Select Restore the PS Vita System and click Yes on the prompt to reboot the system.
4. Complete the first time setup and update the firmware. If you want to install CFW on the console, you can continue to this page.
