Dashboards allow you to change the skin, or theme, of the dash to custom user-made skins. While most automatic download servers are down for these dashboards, you can download packs online and apply them manually. If you insert a skin manually, you may need to reboot for it to show up in the skin list.

XBMC-Emustation

You can add your own custom themes by placing them in \XBMC-Emustation\.emustation\themes\.

UnleashX

Browse to System → Skins. Here you can choose from a few pre-loaded skins or add more by placing them in C:\Skins\ or E:\Skins\. You can also download skins here from 2 servers that UnleashX provides. Skins are available to download from the Xbox-Skins.net server. There is currently no available server for AllXboxSkins.com.

EvolutionX

Browse to System Utils → Skins. Here you can select a skin that you have placed into the "Skins" folder in the location where the EvolutionX dashboard is installed.

Avalaunch

Browse to Settings → Skins. You can change settings for skins, including enabling "Astronomy Pic Of the Day (APOD)" which will download NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day and display it as the background image. There is also a similar feature called "ACAM (Adult)" which is for displaying non-nude pictures of women. Both APOD and ACAM settings may cause your Xbox to freeze if enabled, unless you use the patched version of Avalaunch known as Avalaunch 0.49.3 Patched which can download the APOD. You can also apply skins that you have placed in ".../Avalaunch/media/skins/". You can also download skins from a database here. The official server for skin downloading has since gone offline, but they can be downloaded again with Avalaunch 0.49.3 Patched.

Anod-X

Browse to Settings → Skins. Choose from the options below:

  • Manage: Allows you to choose the active skin.
  • Download: Allows you to preview and download skins from online. Previously, you could do this by pressing A on a skin (or X to select multiple) and Start to download, but servers for this have since gone offline.
  • Random Skin: When enabled, Anod-X chooses a random skin at startup.
  • Backgrounds: Allows you to choose a background image separately from your skin. You can place custom backgrounds inside the background directory located at .../Anod-X/AnodXData/Skins/Default/Backgrounds. Press Start to exit.
