Your PS3 game saves can be transferred to other accounts, or be modified using a game editor on your PC. The following procedures can be done on both OFW and CFW consoles.

Backing up your Saves

  1. Navigate to the Saved Data Utility (PS3) in the Game column of the XMB.
  2. Hover over the desired game and press Triangle.
  3. Select Copy and choose the USB device.
  • Alternatively, if you have CFW/HEN, you can directly copy your saves to your PC using FTP by downloading them from /dev_hdd0/home/0000000#/savedata/. This saves time, as you can copy the whole folder instead of each one individually.

Transferring Saves to Another Profile

This feature can be used on OFW as well as CFW. Note that some games will refuse to accept a save from another account and you will have to do it manually by extracting your save and resigning it with the procedures below. If this happens to you, you can try the steps in the Fake Save Owner Data section below to allow any user to use all saves.

  1. Navigate to the Saved Data Utility (PS3) in the Game column of the XMB.
  2. Hover over the desired game and press Triangle.
  3. Select Copy and choose the destination account.

Fake Save Owner Data (CFW/HEN)

Enabling the "Fake Save Data Owner" setting under Settings → Debug Settings will allow any user to use saves that belong to another user. If the option does not appear, launch Rebug Toolbox, find the "Debug Menu Type" setting and change it to DEX.

Decrypting your Saves

  1. Plug a USB storage device into your PS3 move your desired save onto it. You can do this by browsing to PS3 Save Utility, hovering over your desired save, and then pressing Triangle and "Copy".
  2. Plug your USB storage device into your PC and open the BruteForce SaveData tool in AldosTools under the Cheats & Saves category.
  3. Open your save by selecting the "..." button.
  4. Right click your save in the main window and select the Decrypt All Files. Select Yes to decrypt the save, and ignore any errors about a disc hash key. You can now use a game modding tool or hex edit your save.

Applying Cheats to Saves

Although you can use external tools, AldosTools has a cheat database built into the BruteForce SaveData tool. Simply double click your save file in the bottom left and a new window will open up. If a cheat patch file exists, you can select "Preview" in the top right corner and enable or disable any cheats listed and select Apply in the top right. Alternatively, you can manually edit the save with a hex editor (Tools → Hex Editor). **Your save must be decrypted to be modified, and re-encrypted to be used on your console**.

Resigning Saves

If your game refused to be read after transferring it to a different profile, you can resign the save to be used by any account. Simply right click the save in the main window and select "Unlock save to work on any PS3 account". Your save must be decrypted to be modified, and re-encrypted to be used on your console.

Converting Save Region

You can convert your region from one region to another. For example, if you have a save for a European game, you can convert it to work with a North American game. Your save must be decrypted to be modified, and re-encrypted to be used on your console.

  1. Find the title ID of the destination region using Google or a site such as the PS3 devwiki.
  2. Right click your save in the main window and select "Change Title ID/Region"
  3. Enter the destination title ID and press OK. It will create a second save next to your original one. Inject the new save onto your console using the following process.

Encrypting your Saves

  1. Ensure that your save is in it's original location on your USB device and open the BruteForce SaveData tool in AldosTools under the Cheats & Saves category.
  2. Open your save by selecting the "..." button.
  3. Right click the save in the main window and select "Encrypt all Files" and select Yes when prompted to encrypt them.
  4. Plug your USB storage device back into your PS3 and move your save back onto your console. You can do this by browsing to PS3 Save Utility, hovering over your desired save, and then pressing Triangle and "Copy".
