Wii Mini - Internet Access

Page currently states:

"In terms of connectivity, this model removed the capacity to connect to Wi-Fi. This means that any game with an online component would be partially incompatible with this console, typically removing things such as online multiplayer. Because of the lack of Wi-Fi, the console cannot be updated."

However, the unit still has a USB port, and for other Wii models that's enough to go online (via an Ethernet adapter). Is this system truly blocked off from multiplayer and the update servers due to a lack of Wi-Fi? - Bomb Bloke (talk) 04:21, 15 January 2022 (UTC)

According to Nintendo's support on this page, the Wii Mini is not compatible with USB LAN or wi-fi adapters. However, I found a homebrew app called Ethernet Enabler that says it allows it to connect. Since I can't test it myself, I don't want to add it to the page, but if someone wants to test it and add it, it could be worthwhile. --Mrjc1238 (talk) 05:48, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
Ta - so it's less a specific "lack of wifi" thing and more a general "lack of online access" thing. I also don't have the hardware with which to check, but I'd guess that even if such a console does get online, and the system menu offers an option to check for updates, odds are none would've ever been released for it anyways. - Bomb Bloke (talk) 03:47, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
