The Sony PlayStation 2 is a console from the sixth generation of video game consoles. The console was launched in Japan on March 4th, 2000 followed by North America (October 26th, 2000) and Europe (November 24th, 2000). Three major models were released in it's lifespan: the "fat", "slim", and a revision on the slim. An alternate device, called the PSX, was a combination PS2 and digital video recorder / DVD burner with the first usage of the XrossMediaBar (XMB) interface that would later be on the PS3/PSP.
