Wii:Riiconnect24 and Wiimmfi

The Wii’s online services have been shut down for years at this point the community has stepped in and revived WiiConnect24 and Nintendo Wi-Fi connection. RiiConnect24 and Wiimmfi bring the online functionality so you can still play and get in touch with your friends.

Wiimmfi

Wiimmfi the replacement of the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection has been online from 05/10/2014 and steadily improving with supporting new games and making the connecting process easier.

Wiimmfi supports the most popular games of the Wii and DS era like:

• Mario Kart Wii
• Mario Kart DS
• Super Smash Bros Brawl
• Animal Crossing: City Folk
• Metroid Prime Hunters.

Wiimmfi is very active and there is a lot of dedicated fans of the games playing every day. The official Discord can be found Wiimmfi Discord.

RiiConnect24

RiiConnect24 brings back functionality for many apps, like the Everybody Votes channel, the Check Mii Out channel, and even the News and Weather channels. The process of reviving WiiConnect is very easy, and you’ll be able to see Peter Griffin on the Check Mii Out channel.

Installation

For both RiiConnect24 and Wiimmfi to work, you will need:

• A softmodded Nintendo Wii with Wii mod lite
• An SD card (with the appropriate homebrew files)

RiiConnect24

1. Visit the RiiConnect24 site and download the RiiConnect24 Patcher.
2. Run the installer as Administrator (if you are on Windows).
3. On the first prompt choose the 1st option.
4. Choose what device you are patching.
5. Choose the first option.
6. You need to choose recommended. This will include 7 files you need to install, but more on this later.
7. Select the region of your console and select continue.
   • Important! If you select the wrong region the files are not going to work.
8. Connect your SD Card to your computer.
9. Select the first option and wait for the files to download.
10. Return to the menu and close the program. Make sure that the files are downloaded.
11. Put the files in the Wads folder on your SD Card.
12. Put your SD Card in your Wii and start the console.
13. Launch Wii mod lite and install the files you put in your Wads folder. Wait for the install to finish.
14. When the install finishes, use Wii Mail Patcher found on the Homebrew channel to patch the Wii Mail function.
15. Change the default DNS in the internet settings. You can do this by navigating to the home screen, then Wii Settings > Internet Options > Connection Settings > Change Settings, choose the active connection, then press right on the d-pad until asked if you wish to Auto-Obtain IP address and choose No > Advanced Settings, and enter 164.132.44.106 for your primary DNS and 1.1.1.1 as the secondary one.
16. Choose Confirm > Save.

WiiConnect24 settings can optionally be set as well.

Wiimmfi

There are actually a few methods you can make wiimmfi work on your system.

(Method 1) Using Priiloader

• Note: If you don’t have Priiloader you can install it or use the second method. The priiloader method though is labeled for 4.3U which is the US region (I haven’t tried this method on my personal console since I use a European WII U)

1. Turn your console on while you hold the Power and Reset button simultaneously.
2. The Wii is going to boot to Priiloader.
3. Select System menu hacks.
4. Select Wiimmfi patch v4 for 4.3U then save the settings.
5. Launch a game and play.

(Method 2) Using the auto patcher You need your Wii’s Sd card.

1. Download the files from the Wiimmfi site.
2. Put the file in your apps folder in your Sd card.
3. Put the Sd card back in the Wii and Power on the system.
4. Launch the app using the Homebrew channel.
5. Put a disk in the drive and launch the patcher.
6. Wait for it to load and play.

(Method 3) Wiimmfi though USB Loader GX

If you have the app installed:

1. Launch it though the Homebrew channel.
2. Go to the settings and search for Private server and select the Wiimmfi option.
3. Launch the game and play.
