The EverDrive-GG is a flash cart by Krikzz that can play Game Gear, Master System, and SG-1000 games on the Game Gear. It can be purchased as a bare board from EverDrive.me, which can then be placed into a donor cartridge shell or a 3D printed one (it is compatible despite being labelled for the X7). Note that color palettes may be incorrect for SG-1000 games unless you use palette hacks.

The latest firmware can be found on Krikzz' site (mirror).

Features

  • FRAM for game saves (no battery required)
  • Max supported ROM size is 8Mbit (1Mbyte)
  • GameGear and SMS games are supported
  • Save RAM data can be stored or loaded from the SD card
  • Codemasters and Sega mappers are supported
  • Micro SD cards formatted as FAT32 are supported up to 32Gb

Firmware Update

  1. Download and extract the latest firmware update (File:Os-v9.zip) and copy the .mso file to the root of your SD card.
  2. Insert the SD card into your Game Gear and turn it on. Once you reach the main menu, highlight the update file and press the 1 button and choose "Update OS".

Usage

  1. Format an SD card of any size up to 32GB as FAT32.
  2. Place your game ROM files anywhere on the SD card. Folders are supported.
  3. Insert the SD card into your Game Gear and turn it on. Once you reach the main menu, you can navigate with the controls below:
  • 1: Select item.
  • 2: Go back. Opens main menu settings if at the root folder.

Note that it is normal for the EverDrive-GG to take a minute to write the game to memory. If you want to continue playing the last played game, you can simply press the 2 button and choose "Start Game" to instantly start it without having to do the flashing process again.
