Wii:Downgrading System Menu

This process is very dangerous. This mod performs permanent changes to your Wii's NAND and could potentially brick your Wii. Make sure you have a form of brick protection such as BootMii as boot2 and Priiloader, as well as a backup of your NAND as a way to recover at a later time.

Requirements

• A computer with an internet connection.
• An SD card and a way to transfer files.
• A softmodded Wii (if you have a custom theme installed, be sure to restore it back to the default theme).
• Multi-Mod Manager or YAWM ModMii Edition.
• NUS Downloader.
• BootMii NAND backup (highly recommended).

System Menu IOS

Take note of a few things in mind prior to following the downgrade guide:

• The System Menu version you're willing to downgrade to.
• The correct IOS and IOS revision (this is very important) for the System Menu.
• The current version of your Wii (the downgraded System Menu must be the same as your console).
• If you're using the System Menu 4.3 update, IOS70 must be unstubbed before downgrading.

This is a list of all of the System Menu versions matching to their corrosponding IOS:

• Version 4.3 - IOS80 v6944
• Version 4.2 - IOS70 v6687
• Version 4.0 and 4.1 - IOS60 v6174
• Version 3.5 (only released in Korea) - IOS52 v5661
• Version 3.4 - IOS50 v4889
• Version 3.3K (this IOS version was only used in Korea and only for 3.3K) - IOS40 v2835
• Version 3.0-3.3 (For 3.3, this is only for non-Korean regions. If using 3.3K, see above) - IOS30 v2576
• Version 2.2 - IOS20 v12
• Version 2.0 and 2.1 - IOS11 v10

Downgrade Guide

1. Download "NUS Downloader" and extract its contents to an empty folder on your PC.
2. Run "NUS Downloader". Download the appropriate Wii System Menu and System IOS modules you're willing to use to downgrade your console (make sure 'Pack WAD' is selected)
   • System Menu: 'Database' > 'System' > 'System Menu'
   • IOS: 'Database' > 'IOS'
3. Navigate to the path where "NUS Downloader" is located. A sub-directory will be created labelled "title", there should be several folders inside. A quick index search in the directory will show the packed WADs.
4. Move the files containing the (.wad) extension into the "WAD" directory on the root of the SD card. If no such folder exists, create it.
5. Download "Multi-Mod Manager" or "YAWM ModMii Edition" and extract its contents to the root of the SD card.
6. Eject the SD card from your computer and insert it into the Wii.
7. Open your desired WAD manager that you have just downloaded via "The Homebrew Channel".
8. Navigate to the "WAD Manager" or a similar option.
9. Select the "System Menu" WAD, and press 'A' to install.
10. Do the same procedure with the "System Menu IOS", select the IOS, and press 'A' to install.
11. Exit the WAD manager and "The Homebrew Channel".
12. If the downgrade was successful, you should see the "System Menu" appear.
