PS1:Connector Pinouts
External
AC In (except PSOne/slim)
Main article: Comparison of Power Supplies
Standard IEC 60320 C8 socket taking an equally standard C7 power cable, except in North America where a nonstandard polarized variant is used.
DC In 7.5V (PSOne/slim only)
Exactly what it says on the tin plastic. Negative ground. Same connector as PS2 Slim (7xxxx) but incompatible voltage.
AV Multi Out
Pin 1 is outermost on console.

* Switchable (and defaulting) to Y/Pr/Pb on PS2 and PS3. DVD-Video and BDMV playback artificially restricted to Macrovision-friendly YPbPr mode.
- At higher than standard-resolution modes, only YPbPr or sync-on-green RGB are available.
S-Video (SCPH-1000 only) and RCA (1xxx/3xxx/5000 only)
Industry standard.
RFU DC Out (1xxx/3xxx/5000 only)
TR minijack; tip 5 V, ring GND.
Serial I/O (except PSOne/slim)

Parallel I/O (except 9xxx* and PSOne)
* Double exception for early production, which has the connector but no hole in the case!
Actually a main system bus interface. No official use (for consumers, that is) and primarily used for bootable option ROMs (cheat cards/swap facilitators).

Controller and memory card
Each memory card socket is actually in parallel with the matching controller port (being distinguished in software instead), allowing for interesting aftermarket accessories; in fact, except for pin 6, the left and right pair of slots are also in parallel with each other. The controller interface can be considered, at the hardware level, an implementation of SPI.
On certain PS2 models (SCPH-75xxx and onwards) 7.5 V is not connected on the memory card side, breaking compatibility with older 3rd party memory cards with 5 V logic.
Pin 1 is rightmost looking at the front of the console.
