RF, Composite, S-Video

Same as PlayStation 1.

RGB

Except on the Japanese-launch-exclusive DVD Player 1.0 and third party hacks, RGB mode is artificially incompatible with DVD-Video playing software.

As there is no difference between RGB and YPbPr cables except the attached connectors, they are interchangeable if atypical connectors are desired.

Standard resolution

ED and HD

  • SCPH-10320 (VGA HD-15)
    • Sync on green only.

YPbPr

  • SCPH-10100 (RCA)
  • SCPH-10490 (as above, PS3 branding)
  • SCPH-10330 (D-Terminal)
  • SCPH-10510 (as above, PS3 branding)
  • HD Retrovision component (YPbPr) cable
  • PACKAPUNCH Cable

HDMI

While the PS2 does not output HDMI, the RAD2X cables can adapt an RGB signal to HDMI and upscale the image to 480p.

  • RAD2X Cable
    • This does not allow you to convert a YPbPr signal to HDMI. This means that the native 480p output through a PS2 will not be compatible, but the upscaling produced by this adapter should produce a similar result.

AV Multi In (Game)

A cable with a PlayStation AV Multi Out connector on both sides, for use with compatible Sony TVs (Japan only?) including the official PS1 TV - the CRT:KV-21SP1.

It's also compatible with the PS2/PS3 (uses the same AV Multi Out), whose YPbPr mode is also supported.

  • VMC-AVM250
