PS1:Light Gun Games
Light guns will only work with CRT TV's, not flat-screens. If you plan on playing light gun games with an RGB setup, you’ll either need an early model PS1 that has a composite video port on the back (see difference in image below) or an RGB SCART cable with a separate composite video out (see the PS1:Video Cables page for options). The games can still be played in RGB, but the light gun itself needs to plug into the composite video port.
Types of Light Guns
There are two types of light guns for PS1:
- "Justifier" (or Hyper Blaster in Europe/Japan) type light guns
- "GunCon" type light guns
The Konami Justifier was the first light gun, with the Namco GunCon following. Both light guns eventually had various third party clones.
Games that Work with Both Types
Games that support the Justifier generally do not support using a Namco GunCon as Namco designed the GunCon to only work with Namco games.
- Die Hard Trilogy 2: Viva Las Vegas
- Elemental Gearbolt
- Maximum Force
- Mighty Hits Special
GunCon Conversion Patches
This GitHub repository contains patches for various light gun games to allow you to use a GunCon on them.
