Linux is a free and open source operating system kernel built by Linus Torvalds and the thousands of other contributors. It's a UNIX-like kernel originally built as a MINIX clone. Linux is typically a target for a console as booting Linux would give the user full control of the hardware. The Wii can boot Linux through many means but the one we will be using is Wii-Linux-ngx, simply due to being more up to date. There are other methods, such as the older Wii-linux or Whiite installer.
