This guide will walk you through managing your Xbox game saves. Game saves can be found in the UDATA folder on the E: drive. Title-specific data such as homebrew, DLC, updates and the Microsoft dashboard music songs are stored in TDATA. Some games also store save data in TDATA.

Each game gets its own sub-folder, named according to its title ID code - for eg, Halo 2 stores its saves in E:\UDATA\4D530064, and its DLCs in E:\TDATA\4D530064. Xbox title IDs are always eight character hexadecimal representations - exactly which codes belong to which games can be ascertained by looking them up through the save managers built into Xbox:UnleashX or Xbox:XBMC.

Moving Saves from HDD

Using FTP

FTP allows you to easily move saves from device to device. Start an FTP session and navigate to the UDATA folder on the E: drive. From here, you can choose the desired game by Title ID, and move saves to or from your Xbox.

Copying with USB

In the case that you cannot use FTP, you can use a USB flash drive or memory card to move saves to your PC. This requires either an Xbox-to-USB-female adapter, like this one on Amazon, or an adapter for your memory card to be plugged into your PC. Use the built in save manager on the Xbox dashboard or on your modified dashboard to move the save to your storage device, and then plug your storage device into your PC. In order to access the saves on the device, you will need to use FATXplorer or Xplorer360 to extract them. Likewise, if you want to put saves onto the device, you will need to inject them with Xplorer360.

Using Xbox HDD on PC

The Xbox's HDD can also be connected directly to the PC with specialized software like FATXplorer, as seen here. Simply mount the E partition of the HDD to the computer, and then you have full access to all of the HDD's save data.

Resigning EEPROM-Locked Saves

Some games are locked to the EEPROM they were created with and therefore require the saves to be resigned to the EEPROM of the new Xbox or for the game's executable to be modified to bypass the signature check. More details about this can be found on this page.

Moving Saves to or from an Xbox 360

Xbox save files on the Xbox 360 can either be copied directly from its hard drive with FATXplorer or Xplorer360. If the Xbox 360 is can run homebrew, the save files from it can also be copied to FAT32 USB storage.

Info on managing Xbox saves on the Xbox 360 are detailed on this page.
