Vita:HENkaku

HENkaku is a Webkit & kernel exploit chain released for the PS Vita developed by TheFlow, and it is compatible with consoles that have 3.60 firmware.

By default, the jailbreak provided by henlo_jb will not be "persistant". This means that if the console is ever fully shut down or rebooted, the jailbreak will need to be ran again through the web browser. However, installing Vita:Ensō (either manually or through VitaDeploy) will make the jailbreak persistant, essentially giving the console custom firmware.

Accessing HENkaku

Official Website w/ a Sony Memory Card

Please note that this exploit method requires a PS Vita memory card in the console. This won't be a problem on a PSTV or the "slim" models (PCH-20xx) due to all of them having one built in, but if you own the original OLED model (PCH-1xxx series) without a memory card, then the recommended path is to update your firmware and use the HENlo method instead.

1. In the console's LiveArea, access the web browser. Navigate to http://henkaku.xyz.
   • http://vitawiki.xyz/go/ can also be used as an alternative to the HENkaku website.
2. Open the web browser settings. Make sure that Javascript is enabled, and clear your cookies and search history. This is to ensure the jailbreak has the highest possible stability.
3. Press the button named Install with the touch screen or analog stick cursor. The borwser will show an error; this normal. Click OK to go past it.
4. With HENkaku installed, open the Settings application. There will now be a section for Henkaku's settings.
5. Enable the check box for Unsafe Homebrew. This will allow homebrew apps to have extra permissions. You may also want to change the spoofed firmware to 3.74 if you plan on having access to PSN.
6. Exit the settings application.

Alternative Host w/ an SD2Vita

This method can be used if you have a PCH-1xxx model without a memory card.

1. Format your SD card and insert into the Vita with an SD2Vita.
2. Go to http://vitawiki.xyz/tf/ on your PSVita and do a force install (hold R)
3. Check your memory card in the Vita's settings.
4. Go to the web site again two times in a row to install molecularShell (if you have any issues, try to hold R again)

Installing VitaShell & VitaDeploy

Requirements

• An FTP Client such as WinSCP or CyberDuck.
• The latest release of VitaDeploy.
• The latest release of VitaShell.

Prep Work

1. Launch the newly installed molecularShell application.
2. Press SELECT to enable FTP access on your device.
3. Open your FTP client on your computer, phone, tablet.
4. Enter the Vita's IP address and port number displayed on your device.
5. Using your FTP client, navigate to ux0: -> data/
6. Transfer VitaDeploy.vpk and VitaShell.vpk to the data/ folder
7. Press ○ on your device to close the FTP connection

Installing the Applications

1. Launch the molecularShell application.
2. Navigate to ux0: -> data/
3. Press × on "VitaDeploy.vpk"
4. Press × to confirm the install
5. Press × to confirm the install again when prompted
6. Repeat the same steps for VitaShell.

VitaDeploy and VitaShell should now be installed to your home screen.

Using VitaDeploy

Adding an Internal Memory card to a PCH-1xxx

If you have a PCH-1xxx Vita, you should ideally create an internal memory card so you have additional backup storage to fall back upon in case your primary memory card fails. Some homebrew can also use it for extra secondary data if it's mounted as ur0.

1. Once VitaDeploy has been installed, open the app. Go to the Miscellaneous tab and click Create an internal memory card
2. Select the desired partition configuration. For most average users, it is recommended to use the PCH-2xxx's storage configuration.
3. Restart the PS Vita. You should now have a 1 GB internal memory card.

If you previously accessed VitaDeploy by replacing the NEAR app, you can go back to the jailbreak.psp2.dev website to restore the NEAR app back to the console. Then, you can install VitaDeploy to your memory card.

Installing 3.65 Henkaku Ensō with VitaDeploy

Once you have installed VitaDeploy, you can easily make the jailbreak persistant by using its preset function of updating the firmware to 3.65 with YAMT, Vita:Ensō, and many handy plugins.

1. Launch the newly installed VitaDeploy application.
2. Tap Install a different OS
3. The application will start to install a few packages. Once that step is finished, follow the on-screen instructions.
   • Do not let the console go in sleep mode during this step. If the console happened to do so, hold the power button to fully turn off the device and install HENkaku from henlo_jb again.
4. Once the firmware has been installed, you will be able to see that the console was upgraded to 3.65 firmware with HENkaku installed in the Settings app.
