The Nintendo Game Boy is a console from the fourth generation of video game consoles. The console was launched in Japan on April 21st, 1989 followed by North America (July 31st, 1989) and Europe (September 28th, 1990). A model revision — the Game Boy Pocket — is a smaller unit that required fewer batteries which displayed games in black and white instead of monochromatic green. The Game Boy Light was a Japanese-only model that was similar to the Pocket but featured a backlight. Games were also later playable directly on the Game Boy Advance, on the Super Nintendo using the Super Game Boy cartridge, and on the GameCube with the Game Boy Player.

The Game Boy Resource wiki is a great supplemental resource to this wiki.
