The Game Gear featured similar hardware to the Master System, but had a much larger color palette of 4,096 colors and offered true stereo sound. The system could be powered by an AC adapter or run for three to five hours on six AA batteries — a much shorter amount of time than the Game Boy's 30 hours on 4 AA batteries. An analog TV Tuner was released for the system to be able to watch television on the Game Gear, as well as a Gear to Gear Cable (VS Cable) which allowed for multiplayer gameplay using two Game Gears.
