The Sony PlayStation is a 32-bit console from the fifth generation of video game consoles. The console was launched in Japan on December 3rd, 1994 followed by North America (September 9th, 1995) and Europe (September 29th, 1995). Further revisions removed the RCA and parallel ports on the back before a full model revision — the "PSOne" —was released in June 2000.
The PS1 Developer Wiki is a great development-focused supplemental resource to this wiki.
